Lexington Irmo Lake Murray Real Estate Update 06-23-2011

Kids Enjoy Revitalized Lexington Park – Lexington Police Dept. Patrolman Nick Bezer helped Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church Vacation Bible School 5th and 6th graders during a Kid’s Clinic with Lowe’s at Corley Street Park, Tuesday morning during an “Unveiling” ceremony of new equipment at the park. Also, Lexington Mayor Randy Halfacre pointed to new emergency call boxes at the Park on Tuesday highlighting public safety for area citizens as the Saxe Gotha Bible School students looked on from new playground equipment. Lowe’s gave the town a grant for more than $18,000 for new equipment which also includes a spray pool. Corley Street is the town’s oldest park dating back to the 1970’s.

Lexington looks at options for Main Street parking – Parked cars are becoming a problem on Lexington’s Main Street. And town leaders will be looking to business owners for help. The problem is being created by employees who park their cards on Main Street close to businesses where they work. The practice leaves a little room for customers, town officials said. Council has been asked to place parking restrictions on Main Street limiting the time a space can be occupied. But council members didn’t put the request on the agenda for a vote. “We need to give them a place to park,” Councilman Danny Frazier said. But others said that was not the solution. “There needs to be more turnover in the spaces available,” Major Randy Halfacre said. Cars need to be rotated in and out instead of staying there all day long, he said. Town staff will talk to business owners about limiting employee use of the Main Street spaces.

Lexington Medical Center welcomes summer interns – Lexington Medical Center is opening its doors to some of the brightest high school students in Lexington County for an intensive summer internship inside the hospital called the Partners Program. In its 21st year, the Partners Program has become a popular tradition at the hospital. “The goal is to give students an inside look at what they can expect in a health care career,” said Kelli Bennett, Workforce Coordinator at Lexington Medical Center, who conducts the Partners Program. “It’s a glimpse into our world.” The students will focus on clinical training around the hospital and assist health care workers in areas including checking blood pressure, taking temperatures and feeding patients. In addition, they will tour hospital departments and attend classes where health professionals will speak with them about careers in medicine. Approximately 200 students applied for this summer’s program. Sixty were selected to participate after an extensive process including a written application and interview with a panel of hospital staff members. Lexington Medical Center will award a $1,000 book scholarship to one rising senior from each Lexington County High School, home school and private school, for a total of 13 scholarships.

Westmoreland living dream at World Series – Last season, USC pitcher Adam Westmoreland could only watch as his teammates celebrated a national title. Recovering from Tommy John surgery, Westmoreland was red shirted and left off the South Carolina roster. Now, Westmoreland is with the Gamecocks as they make their return trip to Omah4a. “It’s a dream come true,” Westmoreland said. “It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do. I’m glad to be a part of it. It’s fun to be back out here.”

A little information about Mary
:

Hello,

My name is Mary Phillips; I am proud to be part of the Exit Realty team! Real estate has always been a part of my DNA as I tracked home listings, open houses and sales before it was a national pastime on HGTV and before one could search the net. I enjoy following the market trends, using market statistics to help guide in a home search or sale. But most importantly, I like to build relationships with my clients that are based on integrity, honesty and trust.

In June 2009, my family was relocated from Ohio to the Midlands where we met Tonya Graves an Exit Realty consultant. Tanya walked us through the entire process until we found our dream home in Lexington, South Carolina. We were so impressed with Exit Realty and its personal approach to real estate that I made a decision to join the Exit Realty team. Now, as a member of the Exit Real Estate Consultants Team, it is my pleasure to assist in you in finding or selling your next home. My goal is to meet your real estate needs and place “the Keys” in the palm of your hands.
