Friday, January 8. Art School: Drop In and Draw! This studio drawing class is an opportunity for artists (ages 8-12) to learn about the fundamentals of drawing including how to use linear perspective and encourages creativity. Pre-registration is not required. $10 per session or $5 for Kids Plus members. Visit the Columbia Museum of Art for additional information.

Friday, January 8-Saturday, January 9. Crop & Shop. This two day scrap booking crop and shop event will have everything you are looking for to complete your scrapbook! Come and add to your pages or simply shop for the materials you need. There will be many vendors on site, great food, snacks, classes and make-n-takes available. $45 covers your entrance for both days with a chance to win the grand prize. Opening Saturday, January 9. A Dinosaur’s Tale! When two baby dinosaurs wander from their nest, they must outwit a hungry velociraptor and find their home with the aid of an unexpected ally. Saturday, January 9. Polar Bear Plunge! Are you as brave as a Polar Bear? For the sixth year in a row, the Polar Bear Plunge event is helping to raise funds for Children’s Charities of the Midlands, an organization dedicated to promoting charitable endeavors that are committed to improving the health, welfare and education of South Carolina’s youth. The first splash is scheduled to occur at 10:30 a.m. All participating polar bears must complete a registration form and be signed in no later than 10:15 a.m. at Lake Carolina’s Sunset Park. Sunday, January 10. Horse Trail Rides! Come out to Saluda Shoals Park and enjoy a wonderful walking trail ride through the park. Learn how to horseback ride or simply improve your skills. No previous experience is required. Rides last an hour (including instruction, mounting & dismounting). No double riding is permitted. Riders are required to wear long pants, boots or sturdy lace-up shoes, and helmets which are provided. The entire family will be captivated as they travel down the Yellow Brick Road and beyond with Dorothy, Toto and their friends the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow in this lavish production, featuring breathtaking special effects, dazzling choreography and classic songs. A spectacular celebration of the iconic 1939 MGM film, THE WIZARD OF OZ will blow you away from the moment the tornado touches down and transports you to a dazzling art deco Oz, complete with munchkins and flying monkeys. Tuesday, January 12. Dance Lessons at the Senior Center! Come learn the Shag, the Texas Two-Step, Ballroom dances, Line dances, Swing and everything that is new and fun! All skill levels are welcome!
