Milliken’s memorial service held today

A memorial service for industrialist Roger Milliken was held today at 2 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Spartanburg. Milliken, a Spartanburg industrialist who built a textile manufacturing juggernaut that employs thousands worldwide, died Thursday at the age of 95.

S.C. to help shape national economic development

South Carolina has been chosen by the Harvard Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness as one of four states to participate in an industry cluster mapping project for the United States.

Sanford to begin farewell tour

This week is Gov. Mark Sanford’s last full week in office. During this time, Sanford will be crisscrossing the state to attend public events and meet with constituents.

City to hold meeting with Harbison merchants

The street division of the city of Columbia’s Department of Public Works will host a meeting with Harbison-area business owners to discuss construction plans for Bower Parkway.

Statewide job shadow program slated for February

The statewide job shadow campaign is part of a nationwide effort that brings together business, educational and governmental organizations to help young people explore firsthand the skills and education needed in the work force.

S.C. firm secures $10 million investment

Gladstone Investment Corp. headquartered in McLean, Va. announced today that it invested $10.8 million in Precision Southeast Inc., an injection molding company based in South Carolina.
