Low-cost airline coming to Greenville, Columbia

Vision Airlines will launch service to northwest Florida this spring from the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport and the Columbia Metropolitan Airport.

DHEC approves permit for waste-to-energy plant

W2E Columbia LLC last week received a solid waste permit from the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control, paving the way for the construction of a $12 million anaerobic digestion facility. Waste from the facility will consist of nutrient-rich soil used for agriculture as well as commercial and residential landscaping.

DHL to hire 140 in West Columbia

DHL Global is looking to hire 140 more employees at its facility in West Columbia. The company does not handle any freight at the facility but rather processes all documentation required by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol at its Platt Springs Road facility.

Coker College hires media relations director

Barbara Steadman has been hired as Coker College’s director of Media Relations. Steadman will begin her new role Tuesday. Steadman graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts in communication from the University of North Dakota.

USC’s History Center kicks off lecture series

Titled “Wars’ Ends/Aftermaths,” the series gets under way Wednesday with a lecture by Dan Reiter, chairman of the department of political science at Emory University. The lecture will begin at 7 p.m. in Gambrell Hall, Room 250.
