Charleston executive picked to head PRT

Gov. Nikki Haley has nominated Charleston hospitality executive Duane N. Parrish to head Parks, Recreation and Tourism. His first job: Find a new private sponsor for The Heritage golf tournament.

Columbia firm receives contract for Army utility plant

Keenan Fort Detrick Energy LLC was awarded $21.3 million to provide for conditioned electrical, chilled water and steam energy for the National Interagency Biodefense Campus in Frederick, Md.

Vista site receives DHEC Certificate of Completion

The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control has issued the certification to Miller-Valentine Group, the managing partner of Gervais & Lincoln LLC, for cleanup of a brownfield site in the Vista.

In her new role, Briana Crotwell Timmerman, who is also associate dean of the S.C. Honors College and a research associate professor of biological sciences, will work to enhance professional development opportunities for graduate students.

U.S. Commerce executive to speak at Moore School

Suresh Kumar, the assistant secretary of trade promotion in the federal cabinet agency, will speak Friday at the Darla Moore School of Business. The speech will take place at 9:45 a.m. in Room 801A.

In its new role, the independent insurance firm will counsel entrepreneurs in commercial and personal insurance, risk management and employee benefits.

Columbia-based Logan Raye has set up shop in Camden, in the ground floor of a turn-of-the-century former bank building. New partner Billy J. Silver, a retired advertising and marketing executive, owns the building at 1025 Broad St. in the city’s downtown district.  

Clemson trustees act on indoor football venue

The first step was taken toward construction of an 80,000-square-foot indoor football practice facility as trustees approved $150,000 Wednesday for initial concept planning. The ultimate estimated total cost of the project is $10 million.
