A Midsummer Night’s Dream: Columbia City Ballet: Koger Center

The USC Jazz String Concer: USC School of Music

USC Jazz String Concert) will be presented at 7:30 pm in the Recital Hall at the School of Music building on Assembly Street next to the Koger Center. A blend of classical music and jazz!. The University of South Carolina Jazz Strings is currently an ensemble of two violins, two cellos, piano, bass and drums, with an occasional sax player. There are very few groups of this kind anywhere in the world. It is a unique organization with string players playing music traditionally reserved for saxes and brass players. Admission is free. Arts & Draughts: Columbia Museum of Art

Arts & Draughts is a new series designed to be an interactive party on the first Friday of every month at the Museum.
At the March Arts & Draughts the Columbia Design League will present a special lecture and Q&A session with SVP for On-Air Design and Off-Air Creative, MTV and MTV2, Jeffrey Keyton at 7:15 p.m. Keyton oversees the award-winning design teams at MTV and has been instrumental in defining MTV’s distinctive visual personality for the last 20 years.
Guests also take a unique perspective tour of Who Shot Rock & Roll with Free Times music editor Patrick Wall, indulge in a beer tasting from America’s first micro-brewery, Widmer Brothers Brewery Company, view featured works by Devine Street Tattoo artists and rock out at 8:00 p.m. to performances by Mo’ Betta Soul Sounds Familiar Records Showcase featuring Dayclean, Fayth Hope and Preach Jacobs. And while you’re here, create your own mini canvas and watch a live painting by artist Thomas Crouch.

17th Annual Central Carolina Food and Wine Festival – Food & Wine Dinner: Hampton Street Vineyard

Columbia Baroque Soloists : Gala – A Venetian Carnevale: Shandon United Methodist Church

Columbia Baroque Soloists cordially invite you to attend our Venetian Carnevale Gala & Silent Auction on Sunday, March 6, 2011. Those attending are invited to arrive masked (!) or they may purchase masks at the performance that have been extravagantly designed and created for the occasion. Guests will be seated at tables of eight with a buffet of Italian hors d’oeuvres featuring antipasto, Italian meatballs, eggplant crustini…, mini chicken marinara, roasted vegetables and more–including a dessert of Italian spumoni!

The music will feature works by Handel, Vivaldi and Sammartini performed by Jerry Curry, Harpsichord; Jean Hein, Baroque Recorder; Brittnee Siemon, Mezzo Soprano; Timothy Hein, Baroque Recorder; and Gail Ann Schroeder, Viola da Gamba.
